Car sought in connection with man's body found burned in Detroit with hands, feet bound

DETROIT - Detroit police are searching for a car wanted in connection with the murder of a man who was found burned with his hands and feet bound on the city's east side[1].

Police said the 35-year-old man's body was found around 5:20 a.m. Wednesday in the 14600 block of Alma Avenue.

Police said the man's rental car was stolen from him, and they are searching for the car. It is a white 2017 Toyota Camry with Florida license plate #003JPN.

Anyone who sees the Camry is asked to call 911. Police said residents should not approach the car.

The body was discovered on the side of a burning house[2] on Alma Avenue south of 7 Mile Road. Firefighters found the body while responding to the house fire.

According to police, the body was burned so badly that they were unable to identify it as male or female. It was face-down and the hands and feet were bound.

"We don't know if this is the original crime scene or if this is the location they decided to bring the victim after everything was finished," Detroit police Cmdr. Charles Mahone said.

Investigators spent five hours Wednesday morning at the scene. They checked the basement of the house the body was found next to as they searched for evidence.

Detectives are lacking witnesses, as only one house on the block isn't vacant.

Nathaniel Temple said he may have seen a man in a truck drive down the street and park. He said it's a bad area and he's about to move.

Police are asking for tips that could be related to the crime.

"Even if you don't think it's connected, please let us know," Mahone said.
