Dallas Motorsports is pleased to make available this one of a kind Vintage Camel GT Exhibition Car manufactured by Fabcar Engineering in 1989. The IMSA (International Motor Sport Association) Camel GT was the Daytona Prototype breeding ground for composite bodied, high horsepower, unlimited rockets of then and now. This is Fabcar Engineering chassis #002 and was constructed for RJ Reynolds who was the series sponsor. Built with two seats to allow for the race sponsors to experience what it was like on the track in these beast, and also be the display car for the series. Donned with Porsche 962 bodywork, a Chevy engine built by Junior Johnson, and capable of top speeds of 170 mph, the FabCar GTP delivers an awesome look and driving experience. The transmission is a Porsche 6 speed just routinely removed and serviced with new slider, sleeves, and sycros . Entries in the Camel GT series included Porsche 962, Toyota GTP, Nissan GTP, Jaguar XJR-9 and the Chevy Fabcar. These cars were $ 400,000 and above, even back in 1989. In its original livery with a few modifications to make it more compatible for a track car. SVRA recently issued a log book for Chassis #002. Until purchased by the partners of Dallas Motorsports, #002 had been in a collectors care and custody for over a decade.
