Spied! Dallara Road Car Will be a Streetable Track Toy Chassis builder Dallara is looking to get into the road car business, as these new spy shots show. The extreme-looking rig resembles a purpose-built race car but was caught testing on public roads in Germany wearing dealer plates.
Dallara was founded in 1972, and since then it has supplied racing chassis to IndyCar, Formula Three, Formula E, and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship[1]. Founder Gian Paolo Dallara spoke with Autocar last year and said the company was working on its first road-legal model. Dallara is targeting 800 kg (roughly 1,760 pounds), and we can see in these shots that the car will be very small. This would put it in the same company as the KTM X-Bow and BAC Mono. The car is said to be powered by Ford[2]'s turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, which makes up to 350 hp in the Focus RS. Our spy shooter also points out that this mule wears relatively small wheels and tires for a car with such exotic sheetmetal, which could mean it will rely on its massive rear wing and other aero bits for grip.
