Woman taken to hospital after car goes down bank

Police inquiries into car crash at Tariki are contining.

A woman driver was taken to hospital after her car crashed down a bank off State Highway 3 in central Taranaki.

The accident happened at 3.46am at Tariki on Sunday and police, fire and St John ambulance staff attended.

A police spokeswoman said the female driver was in a stable condition but was taken to hospital to have her injuries checked.

She confirmed the car had left the road but couldn't provide any further details including what injuries the driver had received.

Police inquiries into the cause of the crash are continuing.
